Terms of Service

The agreement that covers your use of the TableStudio app, your license, and this website.

Last updated

These terms are an agreement between you and TableStudio ("TableStudio", "we", "us"). They cover the TableStudio app for macOS (the "App"), any license you buy for it, and the tablestudio.sh website. By downloading, installing or using the App, or by buying a license, you agree to these terms. If you use the App on behalf of a company, you agree to them for that company too.

If you don't agree, don't install or use the App.

Free trial

You can use every feature of the App free for 14 days from the first launch. The trial needs no account and no payment details. When it ends, you need a license to keep using the App.

Buying a license

Licenses are sold through Polar (polar.sh), which acts as our reseller and Merchant of Record. That means:

  • Your purchase is a transaction with Polar. Polar takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT that applies, and issues your receipt.
  • Polar's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply to the checkout.
  • The price is the one shown at checkout, including any taxes.

After the purchase you receive a license key by email. You activate the App by entering that key.

Your license

When you buy a license, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the App on the number of devices shown at the time of purchase, for personal or commercial work. To move your license to another Mac, deactivate it on one of your current ones first.

The App is licensed, not sold. We, and our licensors, keep all rights not expressly granted to you.

What "lifetime" means

A "lifetime" license is a one-time payment with no subscription and no renewal fee. It lasts for the lifetime of the App, not of any person. It includes updates we release for as long as we develop the App. We decide what goes into each update, and we may change, add or remove features over time.

If we ever stop developing the App, you keep the right to use the last version you activated under these terms.

What you may not do

You may not:

  • share, sell, rent or publish your license key, or let more people or devices use it than your license allows;
  • get around, disable or interfere with the trial, licensing or activation checks;
  • copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the App, except where the law gives you that right regardless of this restriction;
  • use the App to break the law or to access databases or systems you aren't authorized to access.

Your data and your databases

The App connects to databases that you choose and runs the actions you tell it to run. That includes queries, edits, migrations, imports, backups and restores. You are responsible for:

  • having permission to access each database you connect to;
  • the queries and changes you run, or that you approve when they come from AI tools;
  • keeping your own backups of data that matters to you.

Many actions in the App permanently change or delete data, especially on production systems. Review them before you run them.

AI features and connected tools

AI features in the App send requests to the provider you configure. That may be an on-device model, an AI provider you hold an account with, or a custom endpoint. Your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with it. We don't control it, and we're not responsible for it.

AI output can be wrong. Generated SQL, suggestions, explanations and rewrites may be incorrect, slow or destructive. Always check them before you run them.

The App can run a local MCP server that lets AI tools on your Mac, such as Cursor or Claude, read and change your databases. Every tool you connect acts on your behalf. The App can hold destructive operations for your approval and logs what those tools do, but you remain responsible for what they do with the access you give them.

The same applies to other third-party services you connect the App to, such as cloud database platforms, S3-compatible storage, Cloudflare and GitHub. Their terms govern your use of them.

Third-party software

The App includes or can download open-source components, such as database client libraries and database server binaries. Each is licensed under its own terms, which apply alongside these.

Refunds

All sales are final, except in the cases described in our Refund Policy or where the law requires a refund. The 14-day free trial lets you try every feature before you pay.

No warranty

The App and the website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it won't lose or corrupt data.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, business or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App or the website;
  • our total liability for any claim relating to the App or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some places don't allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived by contract.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the App at any time. If you materially breach these terms, for example by sharing or reselling your license key, we may deactivate your license. Sections that by their nature should survive the end of this agreement will survive it, including the sections on no warranty and limitation of liability.

The website

Content on tablestudio.sh is provided for general information. Links to other sites are provided for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to tell you, for example in the App or on this website. If you keep using the App after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where TableStudio is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
